A house of Druidic descent, the magi of this family can boast of having as ancestors men who lived in pre-Roman times. This house is so ancient that there are historical documents attesting that the Serpi possessed a castle in what is now Castiglione dei Pepoli, on Monte Baducco, it was probably built in 1233 and was the nerve center of the power of the Serpi. Omero Serpi had that castle built with the aim of starting his own kingdom. Castiglione was in the hands of a Bolognese family, the Pepoli, but the Serpi family was still able to exercise their dominion over the town.
The Pepoli didn't want to clash with the magi and so they agreed to grant the Serpi de facto control of Castiglione, while de jure it was still the Pepoli who owned those lands. To consolidate their power, the Serpi relied on five hundred knights: the Templars of Shadows.
The Serpi family reigned until 1347. In that year there was a battle between the Coven and the Templars of Shadows (Battle of Monte Baducco) which ended with the definitive defeat of the Serpi family. Giraldo Serpi, the last ruler of Castiglione, was forced to abdicate and the Serpi had to flee Italy to avoid being exterminated.
But what happened to the castle?
The testimony of Lodovico Albertazzi, an Elder who lived under Marco Pacifico II, is precious to us because it was he who spread the legend that in Monte Baducco lay a giant snake tamed by an evil witch. The snake, Dagon-Raya, devoured the entire castle to erase the evidence of the terrible satanic rituals that the Serpi performed.
There was a Clotilde Serpi who married a wealthy German man, so it can be assumed that the Serpi moved north.
However, it can be perfectly understood that the fact that the Serpi have always been allies of the Coven is not a truth, even today the family maintains its autonomy unlike many other families who are instead dominated by the organizations they serve. It's not excluded that the particular condition of this family causes many organizations to worry, but the concern is not aimed so much at the independence of the Serpi as at what some members of the family do.
The Grand Master Giovanni Monteverdi VII was the first to associate the Serpi with the Sons of the Snake, claiming ideological similarities. These accusations were based on the experience of 1880, when the Grand Master saw with his own eyes Letizia Serpi, his mistress, practicing a ritual thanks to which she started talking to a snake. The girl was a neophyte in the Coven and despite being only eighteen she was still very gifted but the Grand Master decided to excommunicate Letizia for the good of the Coven. Following this there were clashes between the Serpi family and the Coven which culminated in 1890, the year in which Vincenzo Serpi, Letizia's father, killed Giovanni Monteverdi VII, causing the revolt of 1890 which lasted from September 17 until December 22. During this time, the Serpi family founded a group called Heralds of Impurity and welcomed the Giuliana and Spina families.
Vincenzo Serpi was killed on December 22 by Ignazio Visco, an Elder of the Coven, and thus the revolt ceased. The Serpi family was removed from Italy by order of Giovanni Monteverdi VIII but was later forgiven on April 8, 1964 by Arturo Leoni VI.
